Recent Positions and Honors

  • Courtney Johnson Fowler, 2011-2012 PIRE graduate fellow has started a new position in the off-campus study office at Denison College in Ohio. 
  • Erika Exton, 2016-2017 PIRE Undergraduate Fellow, was selected as the Spring 2018 student marshal for the College of Health and Human Development.
  • Abby Cosgrove, 2016-17 PIRE Undergraduate Fellow, was selected as the Spring 2018 student marshal for the Department of Psychology.
  • Neil Shook, 2016-2017 PIRE Undergraduate Fellow, was selected as the Spring 2018 student marshal for the Department of German and Slavic Languages.
  • Neil Shook, 2016-2017 PIRE Undergraduate Fellow, received USTA Fellowship to teach English in Austria for 2018-2019 academic year.
  •  Laurel Brehm, 2016-2017 PIRE Postdoctoral Fellow, accepted position as Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
  • Hyoun-A Joo, 2015-2016 PIRE Graduate Fellow, accepted a postdoctoral position at Georgia Tech starting in Fall 2018.
  • Grant Berry, 2015-2016 PIRE Graduate Fellow, accepted a position as Language Engineer for Amazon in Vancouver, BC.
  • Chris Champi, 2015-2016 PIRE Graduate Fellow, accepted a position as a Learning Scientist at DuoLingo.

  • Kinsey Bice, 2014-2017 PIRE Graduate Fellow, was awarded a two-year Washington Research Foundation Neuroengineering/Computational Neuroscience Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Chantel Prat at the University of Washington.

  • Mary Beth Spang, 2013-2014 PIRE Undergraduate Fellow, will attend the M.Ed. program in Human Development and Psychology at Harvard University starting Fall 2018.

  • Dan Bloodgood, a 2012-2013 PIRE fellow, has recently been awarded an NRSA predoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
  • Postdoctoral fellow Clara Cohen has accepted a position as Lecturer in English at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
  • PIRE grad student Nick Henry has accepted a position at Baylor University (to start August 2015).
  • PIRE undergrad student Kaylee Roupas has been a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in Romania during the 2014-2015 academic year and will begin in the MA program in Linguistics at the University of Kansas in Fall 2015.

  • PIRE undergrad student Leah Pappas has been a Teaching Assistant through the TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France) in French Guyana for the 2014-2015 year.

  • PIRE undergrad student Julia Hotchner has gotten into grad school at the University of Texas-Corpus Christi for a clinical masters program Speech and Hearing Sciences (CSD) to start in Fall 2015.

  • PIRE Undergraduate Kyra Krass will attend the doctoral program in Language and Cognition at the University of Connecticut for the Fall 2015. Supervisor: Dr. Gerry Altmann).

  • PIRE Undergraduate Nick Anderegg will attend the doctoral program in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario for the Fall 2015. Supervisor: Dr. Debra Jared).

  • PIRE undergraduate fellow Emma Hance has been selected as 2014 Teach for America corps member.

  • PIRE undergraduate fellow Brendan Tomoschuk has received the 2014 Center for Global Studies Thesis Prize for the PIRE research reported in his honors thesis.
