Caden (he/him) is a second-year student pursuing majors in energy engineering and Spanish. He is passionate about sustainable and equitable energy transitions and is working to establish justice in communities impacted by nonrenewable energy sources. Being from New Hampshire, he spends every available moment outside, whether at the beach, mountains, or forests. His favorite activities to do outside are to hike, paint, and enjoy picnics with friends.
Project Summary:
The inclusive gender project that Caden is working on is based on the understanding that native English speakers do not have significant grammatical challenges understanding the use of they and them as singular referents. For individuals who speak English as a second language, particularly those that speak Spanish or other traditionally gendered languages, Caden looks to determine the ability of second-language English speakers to understand the use of nonbinary pronouns as singular referents in grammatical contexts.
