Biography:

Cristal is a first year graduate student pursuing a dual-title in Cognitive Psychology and Language Science with a specialization in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. Her research involves behavioral and neurophysiological techniques to explore how accented speech is processes in monolinguals and bilinguals.

Project Summary:

For her PIRE study, she will be investigating if and how different accent variants may impact listeners' accented speech processing. This work will be conducted at the National Autonomous University of Mexico with Dr. Natalia Arias Trejo where Cristal will be able to test how native speakers of Spanish from Mexico process other Spanish accents from a diverse set of speakers.
