Biography:

David is a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minoring in Spanish. Although his major requires him to focus on the sciences, he has a passion for learning Spanish ever since he began taking classes in high school. He is looking forward to pursuing that passion while also studying how bilingualism affects the brain.

Project Summary:

Our PIRE project will study how dialectal variation, specifically aspiration of the /s/, is processed by native speakers that are unfamiliar with a dialect. The research will take place in Colombia where native speakers will be presented with the distinct Palenquero dialect.
