Biography:
Hi, my name is Gabriella Lawler. I’m a second-year biology major, with plans on minoring in Spanish and cello performance. Outside of class, I’m a TA for the FRI laboratories and treasurer of Penn State’s Cello Club. In my free time, I enjoy reading and grabbing coffee with friends.
My PIRE project will test how native Puerto Rican Spanish speakers process differing accent varieties. Monolingual participants will transcribe sentences recorded by Spanish speakers with Puerto Rican, Mexican, Peninsular Spain, and American English-Spanish accents. I will be working under the supervision of Dr. Rosa Guzzardo Tamargo at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan.
