Biography:
My name is Kaitlyn Plummer, and I am currently a 3rd year student here at Penn State majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. I am currently working in Dr. Dussias’s lab assisting with linguistic research. I have always been fascinated by languages and linguistics and I am incredibly excited to work on our own research in Mexico this summer.
Project Summary
Our project will examine how native speakers of Spanish comprehend ungrammatical sentences spoken by non-native speakers of Spanish. The main purpose of the research is to examine language processing capabilities of native listeners across different morphosyntactic errors. Using a variety of different tasks, the project aims to determine if native Spanish listeners are sensitive to error typicality in both native and foreign accented speech.
