Biography:
Hello, my name is Mia Gallo and I am a second year Schreyer Scholar at Penn State. I am majoring in linguistics with a minor in English, and I am from Connecticut. I enjoy traveling, reading, and dance, which I am able to pursue through Volé Dance company here at Penn State.
This summer I will be traveling to Puerto Rico to conduct research about the use of the singular ‘they’ pronoun for people who are bilingual in Spanish and English. This research will help to show how the singular ‘they’ pronoun is comprehended for people whose native language is one that uses gender.
