Biography:
Hi! My name is Michaela Hoover. I’m in my third year at Penn State, majoring in psychology. Outside of school, I work at The Goddard School. There I work with infants through four-year-olds. I also volunteer for an organization called Tides. Through Tides, I get to connect with children, teens, and adults who have experienced loss by leading peer grief support groups.
This summer I will be conducting research with Dr. Merel Keijzer at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. We will be investigating the flexibility of semantic networks in younger and older monolingual English-speaking and bilingual Dutch-speaking adults. This project aims to show the impacts of bilingualism in resisting network deterioration with aging.
