Biography:

Hello, My name is Milan Dukes. I am a sophomore Psychology major from Philadelphia, PA. On campus I serve as a First-Gen Advocate with the Student Success Center as well as the Liberal Arts First-Gen Committee Communications Chair. Outside of those organizations, I dance for and work as the Program Director for Ambitions Performance Co.

This summer I will be conducting research with Dr. Merel Keijzer at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, investigating semantic network flexibility in younger and older monolingual and bilingual adults. My research will expand on the Cosgrove et al (2021) study of younger and older monolingual adults’ semantic flexibility. However, it will be modified to test monolingual English speaking and bilingual Dutch-English speaking younger and older adults. This comparison will enable the results to reflect any advantage that being bilingual as an older adult may give to resisting network degradation effects as we age.
