Biography:
Hi, my name is Nicolas Cardenas-Miller, and I am an undergraduate student at Penn State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics. I have worked in Dr. Brad Wyble’s lab studying visual attention and memory, and attribute amnesia. I am an aspiring Schreyer’s and Paterno Fellows student and am interested in studying the economics of politics. My hobbies include bouldering, running, reading, and playing video games.
Project Summary
Working with Dr. Matt Carlson, I have been pursuing a research project in Granada, Spain. Specifically, for my project, I am investigating if the perception of illusory vowels may be subject to the social information about a speaker presented to bilingual listeners. By learning more about whether social context matters in vowel perception, we may be able to provide more context to further inform linguistic practice on accentedness and vowel perception.
