Biography:

My name is Sunny Li and I am currently a junior here at Penn State, majoring in Linguistics, and minoring in Teaching English of Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Asian Studies. In my spare time, I like to bake chocolate chip cookies, sing songs in different languages, and dance Chinese classical dances. My future career planning is to be a language teacher in my home country China. I believe my experience at PIRE will definitely help me gain insights of language teaching with a scientific scope.

Project Summary:

For my PIRE project, I am interested in studying the effect of bilingualism on bilinguals' memory of conversations, particularly for Chinese-English and English-Chinese bilinguals. The results of this study can not only contribute to the research subject about the impact of bilingualism on memory, but also give language teachers a hint of in what language bilinguals would remember the main ideas from a conversation, and accordingly, apply appropriate teaching strategies to best help students' language learning.
